Start Singing Again
« on: May 20, 2015, 01:06:38 AM »
I've had an unfortunate event happen to me when I was performing for a small gig way back that caused me to completely stop singing. My voice broke at one part of the song and I've heard people making fun about it after the show and I can't get myself to start singing again after that even if I really want to. I realized how I sounded bad and I didn't really have an edge with my singing. A lot of people around me tell me I should sing again but I feel like they're only saying that to boost up my confidence, not because I'm really good at it. I want to become better at singing but I refuse to sing again.

What do you think I should do to get myself to start singing again? Or would you recommend any practices/tips/tricks that can make my voice better?

Try some really basic vocal exercises at first. I would recommend finding a coach but if you’re still feeling too shy to face people when you practice, there are plenty of exercises and tutorials online that you can do in the privacy of your own home. And if you build your confidence back up enough to sing actual songs, maybe try singing something you didn’t think was your style; you can sometimes surprise yourself with what actually suits you. I know it took me ages to figure out I was not cut out for the styles of music I was trying to sing.
