« on: September 09, 2013, 06:33:47 PM »
I tend to discover new music from tv shows and commercials, I'm an avid tv watchers so whenever I hear I song that I really like I source it then take a listen of the full song.

I don'T have a Tv but it would still not be my first music resource or even my second.

I like to click around on the related videos on YT, that does much. My main source are online magazines and therefore reviews.

I'll look at suggestions on youtube during songs that I really enjoy.  I'll ask friends what they've been listening to recently.  I will also go to a few clubs per month just to hear what music is being played.  Sometimes I'll overhear a beat while I'm at a store or coffee shop and try to figure out who the artist is.

Going to gigs and seeing support bands for the main band i'm going to see. Quite a lot of the time the bands turn out to be really good. Also, going to free gigs is great for finding new music. Other than that, then the radio and Spotify.

I have never heard of Spotify before, I will check it out. I also agree with in saying sometimes to opening bands for the main acts turn to be really good in their own rights. Free concerts can be a good place as well. I am not an avid radio listener so it would be better for me to exercise other options.

I have a great radio station that plays some already popular stuff and some other stuff that's not as well known. Then I look them up, listen to their album, and if I really like them, buy the album. Usually the YouTube suggestions aren't too great, but sometimes they can be. Also, Pandora is great for finding artists that are similar to artists that I already know that I like.

Spotify is quite good but I ould go for Deezer instead. It is browser-based and somehow I nver had any limitations there.

PANDORA, my friend. Pandora's the holy grail you been looking for. I'm horrified that no one mentioned it to you. I've tried it all. Spotify, deezer, Iheart, you name it!

I usually find new music on Pandora. Pandora can sometimes be bad at keeping a radio consistent and relevant to the starting artist, but some of the music I hear from it ends up being really good! Other than that, I hear new music scanning through radio stations or out in public. Youtube's suggested videos (or recommended channels to subscribe to) can be a good source of finding new music as well.

Sites like "Genius.com" where they have a forum section. I go to random genre sections and just look at what people are talking about.

A lot of stuff I actually find from my younger brother who is really immersed in the music scene. I follow him on Spotify so every time he listens to stuff it comes up on my page, and I give it a listen. I also check out stuff like sound cloud and band camp for new stuff.

My favourite thing to do is recall old songs I've loved through the years & pick up the entire album that the song is on. So many times I've found the popular radio hit that I've loved was not the best song on the album. Discovering new favourites in the process.

I normally find new music through the radio, YouTube or Pandora. I listen to many different genres so I also use the billboard charts to see what the most popular music is at that moment. Another way I find new music is by looking at random artist’s albums. This is the most effective way for me because the title song of albums is great but the really good music is on the albums.

The charts, pretty much. Billboard top 100, american top 40, that kind of thing. Nowadays, I guess there are also tons of podcasts and blogs and thing like that where you can find what you like and listen to that.

Last.fm, genre sites, friends, sometimes - very rarely - magazines. I don't really listen to anything that would make it close to radio play, so I can't really go there for new stuff.
