Acoustic or Electric?
« on: April 15, 2015, 05:23:55 PM »
What do you preffer? I personally can't choose.
I think I kind of like the electric more since it sounds much better and it fits my taste. I love metal and hard rock and this is the way to go for me!

I prefer listening to electric most of the time, but playing acoustic. I tried playing electric, and in fact I was in a punk band for about five minutes, haha. It just didn’t feel right for some reason, though. I may have been playing the wrong guitar. Either that or I’m just more of the quiet type who suits acoustic music.

I think they are both really great. I love electric in a good rock song. Then again, an acoustic sound in a song is absolutely amazing. So if I must choose, I think I would go with electric. I think you have more of a variety.

I have to say I do love acoustic, it sounds great and is brilliant when it is used in combination with modern songs, but there is something so dramatic and quite frankly sexy about an electric, so.... I can't choose!

Personally, I like both (to listen to and to play). I do, however, prefer the electric guitar because so much more can be done with it and there are so many different techniques that can be applied. Of course, electro-acoustic and semi-acoustic guitars are also an option - I bought one recently.

I personally prefer the sound of the acoustic guitar. It has a more soothing, natural and gentle sound

There's always a time and place for everything, I like to mix it up for sure depending on my mood and a number of other things when recording there has been plenty of times where I've used both to make a certain dynamic, and as far as listening goes I'll say this, electric is what got me into music but acoustic when played well can be amazing and heartfelt in the hands of a true guitarist, but my beef with acoustic has always been the unlimited number of bros who pick up a guitar to learn it for about a week and end up just being Ok with the 2 chords they learned so you can find infinite amounts of crappy acoustic guitar, kind of hurts it reputation for me

There are pros and cons to both of the sounds. I guess it just depends all on your current mood and how the music will blend into your soul for the time being. :) I love both because the sounds of both can stimulate my mind. It just has to be the right time.

Haha, that last bit. “Here’s a song I learned last week, I think it speaks so much to the human condition, it’s called Wonderwall” anyone? I’m with you on that one. And we all know why they do it, too.

I really can't pick one since there is a type of guitar for every type of song as well. If it's generally, I like acoustic better because that's how I learned guitar in the first place and I like acoustic songs more. But of course there are times that I like electric too for pop/rock/punk songs. I don't think the other one is better than the other, though. I think both have different styles and sounds.

I like the timbre variety that electric guitars can get through tinkering with the amp or using effects, but acoustic guitars have that nice percussive element to them.  Personally, I think acoustic guitars sound much better as a solo instrument while electric guitars bring a lot to the table in a group situation.  There are always exceptions, of course.

Hello everybody, I play the guitar and  personally like to play the electric guitar much more than an acoustic. It just depends on the person because I learn how to play guitar on an acoustic. But sound wise, I like the sound of a nice heavy metal riff blowing your mind back to 80's. Don't get me wrong, the acoustic guitar is a beautiful instrument, but personally I'll take the electric.
